One of these plans consists of each land owner paying an annual fee of one cent per acre. The amount is matched by the government and thus a nice sum is accumulated with which to fight fires, Mr. Alexander states, that most land owners are glad to avail themselves of the opportunity of con tributing this small amount in order to get fire protection. Of course there are other funds which can be made available in emergencies. The girls from Camp Taukeetah and Camp Nikwasi were entertained Wednesday by Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Tlie ef lit-: ' Called for completion of the darr by March 1, 1926. Due to vi excellent .' weather for the past .several months the engineers now agree that current from the new dam will be available by October 15 of this year. . This dam will form a beautiful lake, live and one-half miles long. The wa ters of the lake will extend well up into the city limits. The dam is. being built I'cross the Little- Tennessee river three mies below Franklin. When the dam is completed this river with its tributaries will furnish approxi mately seven miles of water for boat ing and fishing purposes. Three electrical units are planned for the power house, two of which will be installed' immediately and the third when the need for more power arises. Two units will produce 1500 horsepower. The fact that Franklin is soon to have plenty of hydro-electric power has resulted in numerous inquiries from men who contemplate establishing industrial , enterprises here. This power in connection with the lake that is soon to be a part of the city limits has resulted in great activ ity in real estate in and around Frank lin. Within the past week several large city lots have changed hands while many farms near town suitable for development purposes have been sold to citizens of Florida. Several developments are underway along the lake front. Among these is the property of the Lake Emory om pany. This company's holdings con sist of 600 acres on both sides and commanding a view of the Jake. Two hundred acres of the Lake Emory property on the east side of the river have been divided into' half-acre lots which are now on sale. F. W. Connell, sales manager, has been in Franklin several weeks super vising preparations for the sales, of these lots to the public. The formal opening of Lake Emory lots took place lasf Wednehday at the site chosen for the Country Club. Approx imately. 3000 people -attended this opening laid were served with re. freshments. Even before the formal opening Mr. Connell had disposed of $60,000 worth of lots to persons from seven different states. - . However, indoor work was working serious injury to Dr. Pearce's health so he resigned and has accepted a position as salesman with Mr. F. W. We were ushered to a front seat and heard every word of these two great sermons. Dr. Mc Connell took as his subject, "Atone ment;" Dr. Truett took as his subject a text, "How Shall We Escape, if We Neglect So Great Salvation?" And both pf these sermons were handled in an enlightening and pleas ing manner without any potnp or show-off by the speakers but with the real spirit and power of God.
